I happened to arrive at Montalcino, Italy’s Podere Le Ripi in time to see the grapes picked, sorted, stemmed, and juiced. (And then tasted some of the aged finished product, of course!)
This organic and biodynamic vineyard is owned by Francesco Illy (of the espresso coffee makers family) produces a range of exceptional wines – including a regionally iconic Brunello de Montalcino and others that boast international high scores.
