How to prepare homemade bruschetta
This is the very original and authentic recipe of bruschetta using so called pane casereccio (traditional bread from Southern Italy). The bread I was using in this recipe is from a traditional bakery in Basilicata region in Southern Italy. At the time when I prepared the bruschetta, the bread was already 5 days old – but still fresh!! I had bought during a trip to Southern Italy. The tomatoes are homegrown in my own garden – starting from the seeds of one tomato type that I liked very much and that I had planted early in April.

Ingredients for 2 persons:
3-4 slices of Italian bread (e.g. tipo pugliese)
about 20 datterini tomatoes
extra virgin olive oil
salt
pepper
basil leaves
origano (optional)
