Italy Vlog episode 7: There are a lot of great places to see in Tuscany and unfortunately there isn’t enough time to explore all of them in detail. But we can at least try to see as much as possible! So as the time had come to drive from Montepulciano to San Gimignano, we decided to get up a bit earlier than usual to also have the time to stop in the beautiful town of Siena. We only had two hours though, because we had to be at our Agriturismo in San Gimignano at noon for a wine tour, so we had to be especially efficient in our sightseeing.

Even though we could have probably spent at least two days looking at Siena’s sights and visiting its many cafes and restaurants, we were happy that we at least got to see some of the many great sights that you can enjoy in Sina: the Piazza del Campo, the Duomo di Siena, the world’s oldest bank and some traditional cafes. We even took the time to taste some Tuscan pastries that are originally from Siena: Cavallucci and Ricciarelli.

At our Agriturismo in San Gimignano we directly went on a tour of their winery and vineyards, had some lunch and tasted some of their delicious wines. After relaxing by the pool we headed into San Gimignano for dinner. It’s a 20 minute walk into town and it offers some of the most majestic views that we have seen in Tuscany. The town of San Gimignano is stunning to look at, with its medieval towers and architecture that loom over the whole countryside. Definitely worth a visit!

In the previous episodes we spent some days eating and sightseeing in Rome, rented a classic Fiat 500 and drove to the Le Marche region in Italy, before heading off to Tuscany. We explored the beautiful towns of Montepulciano and Pienza, as well as famous Tuscan dishes and Pecorino. We then visited a winery in Montepulciano, before heading off the next day to our next stop in Tuscany.

In Tuscany we’re staying close to Montepulciano and San Gimignano, but we’ll also explore many more towns from there, such as Siena, Pienza and Volterra. Our road trip ends in Florence, where we’ll also spend a few days sightseeing and trying out food specialities.
