Before our trip to Italy we downloaded the Italian-English combo on our Encore!!! Language Learning app. Then for several weeks we listened to and practiced Italian with the Encore!!! playlists.

In Milan we took a guided tour with Francesca who spoke entirely in italian. We were eve able to ask her questions (in Italian) and later spend time in the city shopping and dining using our Italian! This made the trip so much more enjoyable!

Our first days in ITALY were spent in Milan. We hired Francesca, a knowledgable guide from ‘TourWithLocals’ to bring us around this beautiful town and to point out her personal favorite highlights of this fashion capital of Italy.

Francesca brought us to
1. Il Duomo and Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II
2. Leonardo Da Vinci plaza next to the Chiesa San Guiseppe
4. She took us to the Napoleon statue inside the Pinacoteca (picture gallery) of
the (Palazza) di Brera where she pointed out the only woman among the busts surrounding the courtyard (Pinacoteca di Brera): She is
5. Maria Gaetana Agnesi (the first woman to write a mathematics handbook).
Inside this Pinacoteca is the school called
6. Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera and behind it is a beautiful botanic garden.
7. at Castello Sforzesco we enjoyed an impromptu performance by an opera singer
8. we marveled at the artwork inside the ’Sistine Chapel of Milan’ (where there is a version of ‘The Last Supper’)
9. She pointed out the ruins of the Sant’Agostino-Genova thermal baths and the church that was bombed during WWII
10. We dined at Cafe Matilda and later walked around the
11. Centro Storico, Stazione centrale & Buenos Aires Lombardy

We enjoyed Prosecco at the LiQuido rooftop bar.
