In 2019, Slow Food and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) organized a study tour in northwest Italy for a group of Syrian small-scale women farmers.
They travelled from their home country to arrive in Italy to learn new skills from Italian farmers who are part of the Slow Food network. FAO and Slow Food have teamed up to enhance the skills of small-scale women food producers from Syria – all with the aim of supporting crisis-affected communities to regain or boost their livelihoods, and reviving the country’s agriculture sector.
