Castelvecchio is a historic winery in the Carso district of northeastern Italy. Leo and Mirella Terraneo started growing grapes in 1986 on this rugged and rocky plateau located between the sea and the mountains on the border with Slovenia. Since then, the next generations have joined the family project.
The property is located on a plateau 145 meters above sea level between the Alps to the north and the Adriatic Sea to the south. Through a targeted choice of organic farming, they work with their children and children-in-law on 35 hectares of vineyards, all surrounding the farm, located in the middle of 80 hectares of forest. Here they grow the grape varieties Malvasia, Vitovska, Sauvignon, Pinot Grigio, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Refosco and Terrano.
