We hope you will join us for a tasting of the wonderful Tuscan reds of Valdicava with our co-host, proprietor PierFilippo Abbruzzese. Valdicava has for a long time been one of my favorite Tuscan wineries and I am excited to share their superb wines with you. Vincenzo Abbruzzese’s philosophy is deeply rooted in the vineyard, located on the northern side of Montalcino, where he focused on the land and vines first. His low yields and meticulous selection remains some of the most severe in Italy and is in large part responsible for the rich, structured, intense Brunellos of Valdicava. Whatโ€™s often misunderstood is that the elegant textures and dark colors of Vincenzoโ€™s wines are often thought to be the result of an international style or small oak, but that is not the case. The vinification at Valdicava has always remained traditional, aged in cask (not French barrique), allowing the identity of the estateโ€™s terroir and Vincenzoโ€™s vision of ideal Sangiovese fruit to shine through.
