We hope you will join us for a tasting of the wines of Tenuta San Guido, including the legendary Super-Tuscan red: Sassicaia! It is impossible to overstate the importance of Tenuta San Guido and Sassicaia in the history of Tuscan winemaking. As Angelo Gaja did in Piedmont, Mario Incisa della Rocchetta made the decision that he would make wines in Bolgheri that were the equal of any red wines in the world. His radical decision to plant Cabernet Sauvignon created the idea of “Super Tuscan” wines and his 1985 bottling is regarded as a benchmark for Italian red wines. He publicly challenged other Tuscan winemakers to follow his lead and make world-class wines or be left behind. This promises to be one of the most exciting tastings we have hosted.
