The family-run Tuscan vineyard Fattoria di Montemaggio is located in Radda in Chianti, in the heart of the Chianti Classico area. The vineyard, which can be traced back to 1560, is located just off the ancient Roman road between Siena and Florence. The name of the property comes from monte maggiore, the great mountain, which is derived from the high location of the farm at 450 to 600 meters altitude.
The Montemaggio property has been organically certified since 2009, which means that their wines are organic and completely pure in taste. All harvesting work is done manually and only when the grapes are perfectly ripe. Therefore, it can be said that the wines of Fattoria di Montemaggio are 100% handmade.
The vineyard’s special location combined with the microclimate allows Montemaggio to offer a wide range of wines from the heart of the Chianti Classico in Tuscany.
