For some, it’s as straightforward as breathing; for others, it’s multidimensional time travel. The creative process is, at once, a journey and a destination, with happy accidents and more.
Alex Sanchez is a chef and restaurateur, originally from San Francisco. Having set-up The Table when he was 26, he has come back with his own restaurant in 2019 – Americano, at Kala Ghoda, Mumbai. He is celebrated for his refined, approachable cooking and his commitment to quality. He is inarguably a trendsetter recognized for creating one-of-a-kind dining experiences and setting new standards in hospitality. For him, envisioning and creating Americano was a really immersive journey that allowed him to graduate from being a craftsman to showcasing his artistry. He takes us through the various layers, iterations, and the painstaking attention to detail that led to Americano opening its doors in March 2019 – bringing an international dining experience to South Bombay.
Projects | Process: Season 02, launched in October 2019, creates a repository of artists’ own artistic practices, expressed in their own words. Now a part of G5A academy, the series of sessions features artists, performers, theatre makers, designers, and more talking about the significance of process and its relevance to project-making in contemporary India, through insights into the development of one piece of their work.
This month features Alex Sanchez, Sheena Khalid, and Rohit Jain as they discuss their work through the lens of ‘Pentimento’ – the traces left behind where a work of art evolves. Look out for the next video, every Wednesday at 6:00 PM IST.
Each month will feature a new theme, with 3 speakers – do subscribe to get notified.
