Cortese is a varietal mostly known for growing in the tiny Italian DOCG region of Gavi in Piedmont. This area is close to the Mediterranean, Geneo, and Cinque Terre in Liguria and their wines go well with the foods of these areas. The wines tend to be dry with crisp acidity, floral and fruit aromas. This wine can appeal to many who enjoy the crisp French whites of Chardonnay in Chablis, Sauvignon Blanc in Sancerre and even some Alsace Riesling fans. If you like Italian Pinot Grigio this could easily become your new favorite Italian white wine!
