Born in New York, at 13 years old my passion for cooking started. My journey began at a French restaurant (Le Poulet) as chef apprentice. I was inspired by Chef Boushelee. He saw my passion and skill level. He treated me like any other chef in New York. Although I was only 13 years old, what would take a great chef a lifetime to learn, I learned in 4 summers.
I ‘ve worked in some five-star restaurants and some were the best restaurants in New York City. 30 years later I’ve realized two things.
Food brings people together
I simply want to put a smile on peoples face
After working in the corporate world being someone I was never was meant to be, here I am. I’ve catered to everybody’s vision except mine. My dream with cooking was always to bring people together. As a descendant from Italian culture I know this: life is family. What we teach our children will lead to generations and beyond. If we have no culture, then what are we here for? I want to bring back what matters. I want to be what our ancestors expect us to be. We are living in times where tradition and culture have no meaning anymore. We want to bring meaning, culture and connection back to the community.
Food gatherings filled with friends, family and acquaintances…. that’s what food is all about to me. Food is a true connection to who we all are. Making some good food simply brings the world together. What people fail to realize is that food is the true expression of humanity.
Food and family are the two things I hold so great to my heart. They both come together in life. Without either, what do we truly have to embrace? In these times, when we are hopeless, let’s just eat and enjoy life! Let s enjoy one another!
