pening a 54 years old bottle is always an experience! Today we opened a 1967 Barolo from Cascina Fontana, one of our favorite producers in Langhe.
The cork was artisanal so we had to use a regular opener, luckily it was in perfect conditions, just like the wine!
Wines this old are mostly about the nose and the perfume, which in this case went above and beyond what we generally consider βcomplexityβ. Iβm going to give you some descriptors, letβs see if you can guess some of the others: licorice, cinnamon, tar and leather.
