Join me and the lovely and talented Sandra Rzucek as we make her traditional family recipes for Easter. From our house to your house. Today we make Easter bread and Easter Quiche.

Easter Quiche Recipe:
24- 32 eggs ( no water) just whip eggs up.
Sauté sliced mushrooms with 2 tsp butter, until cooked half way. Set aside.
Italian sausage cooked set aside.
Steam asparagus half cooked, set aside.
Combine all together with eggs. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 min. Give and take depending on your oven. You will know it’s done when it’s slightly golden brown on top. Get a glove lightly shake to see if the center moves. If it does, test every 5 minutes. If it doesn’t move then it’s done.

Bake at 350 degrees until lightly golden brown.

Easter Bread Recipe

1-1/4 cup milk
5-3/4 Tbsp. of Butter
1/2 cup of sugar
2 Eggs
2-1/4 Tbsp. or 1 package of of Yeast
Colored Eggs
4 Cups of Self-Rising or Bread Flour
Pinch of Salt
1Tbsp of Anise Extract
1Tbsp of Anise Seed Crushed
1 Egg and 1 Tbsp. of water for egg wash
Sprinkles
Olive Oil

You can substitute Vanilla Extract if you do not like the flavor of Anise.

Heat up your milk and butter until butter melts. Be careful, do not scorch your milk. Keep it on low and stir constantly. Remove from head and add sugar and stir until dissolved. Add yeast and stir, add 2 beaten eggs and mix, add pinch of salt and then pour into your flour. Mix well until dough forms. Knead it slightly and form in a ball. Put it in a bowl, put some olive oil on top of dough. Cover with cling wrap and a towel and let rise one hour or until double in size. Take Dough and shape it by cutting it into four equal pieces and rolling each into a log shape. Then braid them like shown in the video and put your eggs in as decoration. transfer to baking sheet. Cover and let rise. Prepare egg wash, when bread has risen, brush with egg wash and add sprinkles. Bake at 350 until golden brown about 20 minutes. Enjoy!!!
