This week we get away for the long Valentines day weekend for food, hiking and exploration! We’ve never been to Phoenix before so were excited to finally get to check it out. The drive out to Phoenix from Las Vegas is a little over 4 hours long. On the way to Phoenix we tried to check out a few camp spots but due to the check engine light coming on half way through out drive I decided it would be best to make it to our destination and run the check engine light reader to make sure it wasn’t anything serious (luckily it wasn’t)!

We made reservations at 2 restaurants – Avanti Italian Restaurant and Taj Mahal Indian Restaurant (it was Valentines day weekend so a lot of places were already booked so plan ahead!) We ended up driving around and exploring the different areas of downtown Phoenix and Old Town Scottsdale (our favorite area during this trip).

— The food and drink list —
Avanti Italian Restaurant – Good Italian food but there may be some better spots 😉 We’ve been spoiled with Italian food after traveling to Rome (our pasta standards have risen =p)

Sidecar Social Club – Really good drinks, awesome atmosphere and bar (Perfect for a night cap)

Chiwas Tacos – Chias Tacos are the BEST among the Carne Asada, Pollo and Pastor (HIGHLY recommend if you want some good, cheap, street tacos)

Brat Haus (Dog Friendly beer garden) – Really good IPA on tap and the BEST beer cheese pretzel 😊 Our server was amazing and they also had an outdoor beer garden that dog friendly which was a plus since we had Rio

Taj Mahal Indian Restaurant – the BEST Indian food we’ve had in a while since we went to London 😉 Highly recommend

Hiking – Dobbins Lookout
This was a highly rated hike on All Trails, rated moderate and over 4 miles round trip. If your not wanting to hike the whole way, you can drive up to the look out point.

— Camping Spots —
Camp spot 1 – “Nothing” Rd BLM Land (I liked this area the most of all the camp areas on this list, it had a bunch of cool rock formations that reminded me of the Flintstones)
Coordinates: 34.479565, -113.335273

Camp spot 2 – Burro Creek Campground $14 per campsite per night (we aren’t campground campers but if you need full hookups, this isn’t a bad spot especially since its so close to Burro creek and really nice views of the bridge!)
Coordinates: 34.537289, -113.450607

Camp spot 3 – Signal Rd BLM Land (Large area to camp for a big group of rigs, Signal road looks like it goes on for awhile into the mountains and there was internet service!)
Coordinates: 34.609160, -113.525081
