Apart from the laid-back lifestyle of la dolce vita, why should you seriously consider moving to Italy?

In the first video of this series, you learnt about the three great tax incentives for wanting to work, live and invest in Italy.

And this is in addition to the traditional la dolce vita appeal to many people around the world!

Now, you’ll find out why Italy is even more appealing for pensioners, people who want to live in Italy for many years, and investors.

Here are those 6 great opportunities to seriously consider moving to Italy:

1. Favourable tax rules for newly domiciled subjects (including a flat-rate tax on earnings generated overseas).
2. Tax and other benefits for foreign workers.
3. A tax incentive for “impatriáti” workers and students.
4. Tax and social benefits for non-EU pensioners.
5. An Elective Residence Visa.
6. An Investor’s Visa.

And here are the last three of these covered in more detail:

Opportunity #4. Tax and Social Benefits for Non-EU Pensioners:

For non-EU pensioners who want to stay and live in Italy, foreign income is taxed at 7 % for a maximum of 10 years.

This applies to pensions, dividends, and property and real estate income.

Opportunity #5. Elective Residence Visa:

The Italian Elective Residency visa is mainly aimed at people already retired and allows them entry to Italy for a long period without meeting employment requirements or other visa qualifications.

Opportunity #6. Investor Visa:

The introduction of this was solely to attract new investment into the country.

This type of visa overcomes most of the requirements and regulations of the normal Italian visa, and provides you the benefit of staying in Italy for more than 3 months as a foreigner investor.

Summary:

Italy has extended its special tax regime for newly resident workers (lavoratori impatriati) by increasing the amount of income earned in Italy from 50% to 70% as being exempt to income tax for the first 5 years after relocation.

These new rules apply to any worker who’s been non-resident in the last two years, and who commits to residing in Italy for at least two years.

You can also find a tax adviser or business consultant (commercialista) at the British Chamber of Commerce for Italy or Centro Assistenza Fiscale – the Tax Assistance Centre (CAF), or find an English-speaking lawyer.
