Pinerolese Wine Area
In this video we show some pictures and video of the landscape, Mountain around there and some Geological details.
Pinorelese is a quite wide area between Mountain, Monviso Group, North West of Italian Alps, and the flat area where PO River goes crossing all the North of Italy till the Adriatic Sea close to Venice.
Pinorele Area is mainly Geologically structred in two deifferent parts:
1) The West side which is composed mainly by intrusive rocks (also vulcanic) came up from the antic sea that were there.
The
2) The Est Side which is mainly composed by alluvial debris, debris from the antich glaciers that were there.
This soil are mainly rich of Sand, Gravel, Silt, Clay, especially the lower part down from the mountain and hills.
In fact the flat zone between the moutains and the PO River is also diveded in two different portions: one higher and one lower.
Anyway the places were mostly the vineyards are, especially for the very important winery we have some picture and video of, Le Marie, have mainly alluvial soil with Sand, Gravel, Silt and Clay.
The wines here, especially Nebbiolo are completetly different in aromas and taste from the other Nebbiolo from Langhe, Roero, Valtellina and Alto Piemonte. Here there are a lot of Mineral Salts and Shale Rocks. So you have very distinctive aromas and taste.
This is another, in my opinion, great area to make wines. Very historical. In the past there were more vine grower than today and traditionally Barbera, Nebbiolo are very common. there are also other grapes that grow in this part of Italian Alps and we can check on them in some next videos.
