In this video we taste a Vino Nobile di Montepulciano from Italy. We also discuss how these wines are made from different grapes than the wines labeled Montepulciano d’Abruzzo. It is almost like the folks in the Italian wine world are deliberately trying to confuse us!
All kidding aside, Vino Nobile wines are usually great values and are wines you should add into your drinking rotation. These wines are made using Sangiovese grapes and are great alternatives to the more pricey Sangiovese options from Brunello and Chianti Classico.
The wine taste in this episode is from Cantina Innocenti winery in Italy but is not available anywhere in the US.
below is a list of my favorite VIno Nobile di Montepulciano producers for you to seek out:
– Fattoria del Cerro
– Salcheto
– Cantina Caterina Dei
– Boscarelli
– Il Macchione
