El Grifo founded in 1775 is the oldest winery of Lanzarote Island (Canary Islands) and one of the oldest ones of Spain. Its wines are mostly made of the local indigenous grape Volcanic Malvasia (Malvasía Volcánica).
The winery has many awards. For example, its white Malvasía Seco Colección was named the best premium white of Spain:
El Grifo fortified wine Canari was included in the famous book “1001 Wines: You Must Try Before You Die”.
