How to sell your startup to Campari: A Webinar with Tannico and P101, powered by BizPlace and IE Business School Venture Lab.

On 8th October, BizPlace and IE Business school co-hosted a webinar that examined one of the biggest Italian venture capital success stories of 2020.

Our guest speakers were Marco Magnocavallo, CEO and Co-Founder of Italian startup Tannico, and Giuseppe Donvito, Partner at Italian venture capital fund P101.

Tannico is a successful e-commerce site that sells wine and spirits, boasting a 30% share of the domestic market and over seven million unique visitors last year. In 2019 the company achieved net sales of €20.6 million.

This year the Italian drinks group Campari acquired a 49% stake in Tannico for €23.4 million. From 2025 Campari, which is the sixth largest spirits producer in the world, will have the option to fully acquire Tannico.

P101 is a venture capital fund specialised in early stage investments in the digital sector, which closed a second fund of €120 million in 2018. The fund initially invested in Tannico in March 2015, and it was one of the sellers in this year’s deal with Campari.

Marco Magnocavallo and Giuseppe Donvito discussed Tannico’s process of investment and growth, and will offer an insight into how the deal with Campari was achieved.

The webinar will be hosted and moderated by Paris de l’Etraz, Managing Director of IE Business School’s Venture Lab.

The event is sponsored by BizPlace, Italy’s leading early stage capital advisory.
