Today I’m SPEAKING ITALIAN for the FIRST TIME in a video (You will hear a lot of mamma mia :-D) and I’m eating a typical food from. ITALY ( NAPOLI ) but with a special twist : SFOGLIATELLA RICCIA RUSTICA!
Sfogliatella (known as “lobster tail” in English) is a shell-shaped filled Italian pastry, native to Campania. Sfogliatella means “small, thin leaf/layer”, as the pastry’s texture resembles stacked leaves.
Traditionally they are filled with sweet ricotta cream but these are a special version of it: they are filled with salty ingredients!
There is:
– 1 with pesto and nuts
– 1 with tomato and basil
– 1 with Genovese sauce (meat and onions)
– 1 with sweet peppers and mozzarella
– 1 with friarielli (local vegetable) and sausage
– 1 with Ragù sauce
I bought all these sfogliatelle from “Cuore di sfogliatella”.
