Alfredo Sauce is a classic, rich, creamy Italian sauce used for various Italian dishes. It is traditionally made from butter, flour, heavy cream, and cheese. This recipe is a lighter version of the original recipe where the cream is substituted with full-fat milk. The use of cream makes the consistency a bit thicker. In case you are using the sauce directly, I recommend the use of the cream. However, if you are going to bake it or cook it further, a lighter consistency sauce is better. Traditionally you make a roux in the pan and add warm cream or milk. Here everything is done in one bowl and in the microwave. It’s a fuss-free, easy, and quick recipe that is a must-try. Use it as desired to make your yummy Italian pasta or main dish at home.
Few tips or options:
– Once you add cheese, do not cook it for more than a minute as the milk might split
– The temperature of the microwave needs to be on high EXCEPT last one minute when you add cheese
– Keeping sauce on room temperature will help it thicken up a bit. In case you need a thicker consistency, add ½ tbsp extra flour while making the roux
– This sauce can be completely cooled down and stored in the refrigerator for a day. Add little milk and reheat before use
– In case you don’t like garlic, avoid it
– Processed cheese is used here in this recipe. However, parmesan cheese gives a richer taste
