Hello friends. In today’s episode, we are making an incredibly easy 15 min Spicy Italian Sausage Sandwich that would a crowd pleaser at any party.
Here’s how to make it:
Garlic Butter:
1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
1/4 cup finely chopped basil
1/4 cup finely chopped parsley
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
Italian Sausage Mixture:
1 pound Italian sausage
1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
1/3 cup chopped fresh basil
2 cloves garlic, minced
14oz can of tomato sauce
1/4 cup red wine
1 pepper, cut into thin slices
salt and pepper to taste
Sandwiches:
4 sandwich rolls
1 cup mozzarella cheese or 4 slices
8 slices of provolone cheese
Chopped red onion and basil for garnish
Direction:
Turn on the broiler.
For the butter, mix all of the ingredients into a bowl and blend until thoroughly mixed. Set aside until ready to use. For the sausage, brown the sausage in a large skillet. When browned, add the garlic, tomato sauce, seasonings, peppers and then the wine. Simmer for 15 minutes over medium heat. Remove from the heat and stir in the basil and the salt.
Spread the butter over the insides of the rolls. Broil until slightly browned and the butter has melted. Remove from the broiler and put on the mozzarella cheese followed by the Italian sausage mixture. Add 2 slices of provolone cheese and place them back under the broiler until the cheese begins to melt. Remove from the broiler and add chopped onions and basil.
