All UVA alumni, parents, and friends were invited to join Yvonne Cunningham of Nona’s Italian Cucina as she presented a live cooking demonstration using her very own Nona’s Italian Cucina Tomato Sauce.

Yvonne was a young Navy wife when she and her husband were stationed in Naples, Italy. It was in Naples where Yvonne became friends with her elderly neighbor, Nona, and learned how to cook like a real Italian. Yvonne and her husband Jesse now live in Charlottesville with their three daughters and the demand for her Italian “gravy” has inspired her to market it. The sauce is still made in small batches using herbs from her garden, San Marzano tomatoes imported from Italy, and the most important ingredient—love!
