We attempt our first recipe, Baked Ziti!

Sauce Recipe (with additions) from The Essentials of Classic Italian Cooking by Marcella Hazan
1 bunch of fresh basil
15oz Italian Plum tomatoes drained and cut
5 cloves garlic peeled & finely chopped
Extra virgin olive oil
Sal & pepper to taste
1 pound pasta
**we added 15oz crushed tomatoes (SJ) 8oz tomato sauce (Andrea)

Combine tomatoes (all), garlic, olive oil, and pepper on medium heat for 20-25 minutes. Taste & correct for salt. Remove from heat and add in basil.

Baked Ziti (taken from

24oz pasta sauce
15oz ricotta cheese
3 cups shredded mozzarella
1 pound cooked ziti

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
Combine ricotta and half mozzarella, and pasta sauce in a bowl until well mixed
Pour pasta into mixture and mix well
Spray large baking dish with non-stick spray, pour mixture into dish
Sprinkle remaining cheese on top.
Bake for 20-25 minutes at 350
