Welcome to Universality Cuisine. We are in Italy today Making Spaghetti with the Traditional Italian Tomato Sauce. It’s easy , fast and takes you less 40 minutes
Here are the ingredients.
For the Italian boiled Spaghetti, you need ;
500g Spaghetti ( Preferably made from 100% durum wheat)
About 3L of water
2 teaspoons of olive oil or any oil.
3 teaspoons of Salt
And for the Traditional Italian Tomato Sauce , you will need ;
1kg of fresh Tomatoes (finely diced)
1 large red Onion ( finely diced)
Garlic ( not much)
About 4 Peperoncino ( Bird’s eye chilli can do)
30ml of olive oil ( you can replace with any other cooking oil if you don’t like olive oil )
Salt and pepper to taste
Method and Preparation
Let’s start with the Spaghetti
1. In a pot , add 3L of water or more and let to boil.
2. When the water start to boil, add 3 teaspoon of Salt
3. Add the Spaghetti in the boiled without breaking it. Boil at high heat.
4. Stir it gradually to ensure the spaghetti doesn’t stick to each other .
5. Boil until it’s “Al dente” ( it means cooked to be firm to the bite. That should be ready in 15 to 20 mins .
6. Drain the Spaghetti and add 1 or 2 teaspoon of oil in the Spaghetti and gently mix. This prevents the Spaghetti to stick to each other .
Your Italian boiled Style Spaghetti is ready.
Let’s continue with the Sauce.
1. In a pot , add garlic. Add the onions and cook for about 2 to 3 mins . Cook on medium heat.
2. Add the tomatoes in the pot and stir . Close the pot and let it simmer for 3 mins .
3. Add the Peperoncino and cook for another 5 mins .
4. Add salt and pepper to taste
Your sauce is also ready
To serve;
Serve the Spaghetti in a circular plate. Add the sauce on top . And sprinkle Parmigiano-Reggiano ( Parmesan cheese ) on it… Any cheese can do . Sprinkle some fresh herbs for flavour ( Basil or parsley or both)
