Celebrating Her 54th Birthday Visiting a Small North Carolina Town. Doing their part for tourism, wearing face masks, Farm Girl and Exoman visit New Bern, North Carolina. The couple stayed in a vacation rental that was found on VRBO or AIRBNB. The rental was the upstairs of a home on the bank of the beautiful Trent River.
In town for her Birthday dinner the couple tried Persimmons Restaurant on the shore of the Neuse River but the staff would not seat them at any of the tables in the nearly empty dining room, stating that there would be live music and people had made reservations. This was very curious because there was no one waiting to be seated and it was very early. Sitting at the bar for a half an hour the couple watched as the few people dining left and the dining area was less than 20% full. Exoman questioned the bartender but still was confused by the live music reason. The Chelsea Restaurant which was their first choice was closed and the pair finally was seated in Paula’s Italian Restaurant just on the outskirts of town. This was a good choice and Farm Girl really enjoyed her lasagna.
Other stops included Franklin’s Antique Mall where the met the owner Mike and bought two bottles of his Taylor’s BBQ sauce. Then another antique store whee they found a mid-century commercial coffee grinder.
