QUICK AND EASY SPAGHETTI BOLOGNAISE
This is a family favorite – this was the meal we always made on a Monday night. We would invite our friend and her two children over. I would make the spaghetti bolognaise and she would bring the salad and bread. What wonderful memories.
INGREDIENTS:
• 1 Tablespoon olive oil
• 1 chopped onion
• 2-3 cloves garlic
• 500g ground beef (I use a 610g packet)
• 1 bottle marinara sauce (Pasta Sauce / Spaghetti Sauce)
• ¼ cup red wine
• 2 bay leaves
• ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning (garlic and herbs)
• 1/8 teaspoon pepper
• 300g spaghetti pasta (or one box)
• Optional: Grated cheddar cheese or Parmesan cheese
METHOD:
1. Heat oil in a large frying pan
2. Sauté onion and garlic in oil
3. Add ground beef (mince) and cook until browned
4. Add marinara sauce
5. Add red wine
6. Add spices
7. Allow to simmer on medium heat for approximately 30 minutes
8. Bring salted water to the boil
9. Add pasta and cook according to the box instructions
10. Drain pasta 11. Remove bay leaves from the bolognaise sauce
11. Layer pasta and bolognaise sauce in a casserole dish or serve in individual dishes
12. Optional: Sprinkle cheese on top and grill/broil until golden brown or just sprinkle parmesan cheese over bolognaise without grilling and serve
13. Suggestion: Serve with salad and crusty bread
