An Italian couple has set up a social distancing friendly restaurant in a tree near Todi in Umbria.

The platform and its pulley system for the delivery of food, were seen in action on Thursday.

Valerio Andrei and his wife Silvia own Il Poggio Brico (The Hillock), a restaurant located on their property in the countryside of the Umbrian hills in the Perugia region of central Italy.

While Valerio says it was an idea he and his wife have had for “several years,” he said that now “it’s perfect because there is social distancing, you’re in the trees.”

“These are all the perfect requirements for the circumstances,” he added.

Stella Bronwasser and Marc van der Aart, a Dutch couple living in Italy are amongst their most loyal customers. “It’s something you definitely need to try in order to know. It’s beautiful, it’s relaxing. Really, you feel good,” Stella explains.

The 4 hectare, 5,000 square metres property surrounding the restaurant was initially used as a organic farm after the Andrei’s first purchased it in 2010.
