One of the amazing wines of @bolzanobozen is Dry Moscato Giallo (Goldmuskateller in German and Yellow Muscat in English)
There are over 360 Hectares in Italy. Most of which are in Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol.
There is also a lot of Moscato Giallo grown in Colli Euganei in Veneto. Under the appellation “Fior d’Arancio” which makes dry, sweet and even sparkling versions.
A little bit is planted in Switzerland where it is often blended.
I tasted an amazing sweet version in Pfalz in Germany @drvonbassermannjordan . The winemaker of Bassermann Jordan vacations in Alto Adige/Südtirol and fell in love with it and brought Goldmuskateller vines to plant in Pfalz, he made a Goldmuskateller Beerenauslese!
This Goldmuskateller Peperum from @martin.fliederhof was one of the first Dry versions I had tasted upon recommendation from #allaportavini in Bolgona. (An all Alto Adige/Südtirol wine shop). It really opened my eyes up to Moscato Giallo!
This Cuvee is from two different vineyards in the area of Santa Maddalena around Bolzano.
They give the Moscato Giallo 6 hour skin contact and aged on the lees for 3 months.
I really enjoy dry Muscat wines; they can be so lovely and aromatic. Moscato Giallo might be the best for bone dry versions.
The rest of the wines they make are Santa Maddalena (Schiava & Lagrien blend) & Lagrien.
Santa Maddalena appellation is known for Schiava & Lagrien blends mentioned in previous videos. But many producers in @magdalener.wine also make a range of white wines.
