Search for:

Pasta Fagioli or Pasta Fazool. Either way you say it, this is how you make it! This Sicilian family recipe has been in my family for generations and is so good and so easy to make. Pasta and beans is a classic Italian dish and this one is sure to be in your cookbook for years to come.

👍Ingredients👍
Olive oil – 3 Tbsp
Garlic (minced) – 2 cloves
Carrot (chopped) – 1 large
Celery (chopped) -2 stalks
Onion (chopped) – 1 small
Plum tomatoes (chopped) – 6
Chicken broth – 1 quart
Cannellini beans – 2 cans
Tubettini or ditalini – 1 cup
Parsley (chopped) – 1/2 cup
Salt
Pepper
Red pepper – dash
Parmesan

👍Directions👍
1️⃣. Heat the oil in a large pot. When heated, add the onions, carrots, and celery. Cook until the vegetables are soft – about 5-7 minutes or so.

2️⃣. When the veggies are softened, add the garlic and cook for another minute.

3️⃣. Add the broth, beans, and chopped tomatoes and cook for 5 minutes.

4️⃣. Remove a few scoops of the bean mixture and mash or purée. Return to the pot.

5️⃣. Add the macaroni, most of the chopped parsley and seasonings.

6️⃣. Cook until the pasta is cooked al dente.

7️⃣. Serve in bowls topped with a drizzle of olive oil, the Parmesan cheese and a sprinkling of the chopped parsley.
