Alessio Di Majo is sometimes known as the ‘lone wolf’ of Molise (an obscure, easily-overlooked region sandwiched between the Apennines and the Adriatic Sea). The reason? Founded in the late ’60s, this organic estate has been the pacesetter in this beautiful, rugged part of Italy for some years. Not only this, but their pioneering ways are not influenced by fads or trends, rather an inner light is their guide. A love for the region and an unwavering belief that despite the obscurity and the apparent humility of their homeland, the region can produce stunning wines of character and finesse.

Di Majo Norante focus on grape varieties that are indigenous to the region, and make them in a sensitive manner that focuses on the inherent savouriness and zest of these varieties. None of their range are exuberantly fruity, but have a wildness to them and are truly ‘Italian’ in their gastronomic flexibility. A name and a region to watch out for.

A richer, more vibrant rosé than we’ve had in the past – but don’t worry! This is still just the ticket with a plate of charcuterie or simply for sipping in the sun. All the fruit comes from an organically-run vineyard that is nearly 50 years old, from the south of Italy. It’s made from a blend of Montepulciano and Aglianico, and is spicy and slightly wild, with plenty of red cherry and almond flavours. It has a crunchy, juicy backbone of acidity that makes it incredibly refreshing.
