We just hosted a tasting featuring the 1997 vintage of this wine here at the store. This was an outstanding vintage in Tuscany and I can say with certainty now that if you have the top Super Tuscan wines in your cellar they are showing beautifully right now and should continue to drink at their peak for another decade or more. All seven of the 1997 vintage Super Tuscans that were on the table were Most Excellent to Killer on the Wine Watch rating scale. The most expensive wine on the table was the Solaia at $350 per bottle but most of the other wines were all reasonable when you look at the top wines from California or France that score in the 95-100 point range. You can still find many of Italy’s top collectibles for under $100. That is why I think Italian wines are the best values in the world of fine wine.
This is an informative wine production highlighting the wines at the Wine Watch, in Fort Lauderdale. It is intended as a companion to Wine Watch Email offers. For more information please visit www.winewatch.com
