For this episode of Cayman Shorts, join us at one of the sweetest spots to enjoy dining in Grand Cayman – Gelato & Co in Camana Bay (visit Gelato & Co. online at with the owner and gelato master himself, Stefano Franceschi. Stefano shares with us about the shop’s recent expansion – it has doubled in size – and its new products, including croissants, Danishes and savoury pastries, sandwiches, focaccia and its very own coffee, Silver Thatch. The Camana Bay location is still the brand’s headquarters but Gelato & Co. now has seven other Caribbean locations and will be opening in the United States for the first time in a couple of months, with a location in Houston, Texas. Stefano is about to head off to Palermo, Italy to compete in the Sherbeth festival, where ice cream makers from all over the world compete with gelato and sorbetto flavours. Stefano will be taking two flavours, one made with Cayman honey and hibiscus flowers and the other using Cayman sea salt. Those who work in Camana Bay or live or visit here are lucky enough to be able to visit the Gelato & Co. headquarters with all of its delicious offerings – including, of course, its signature gelato.
